You open the app at 7:40am in Ikeja. The rain is falling. Traffic on the express is already crawling. You type "VI" and wait. The fare flashes, then jumps. You refresh. It jumps again. You consider trekking to the bus stop instead, but the last time you did that you spent 45 minutes in a queue and arrived to work soaked. So you bite your lip, book anyway, and spend the whole ride watching the meter and your bank balance.

By 8pm the story repeats in reverse. Surge because it is raining. Surge because it is Friday. Surge because there are "few drivers nearby." The wait time says 12 minutes. Twenty minutes later you are still standing under a shop awning, checking your phone, wondering if this is the part where you cancel and try again.

And underneath all of that is the quieter worry. Is the driver verified. Will the trip be shared with a stranger without warning. Will someone pick up when you hit SOS.

We built Post & Pick because we are tired of that dance too.

Post & Pick is a Nigerian ride-hailing platform built for Lagos first. Not imported, not adapted, not pasted on top of another city’s playbook. Built here, for our roads, our traffic, our money, and our people. The goal is simple: make movement easy, affordable, and safe. No tricks. No surprises. Just a ride you can trust from the moment you tap to the moment you step out.

We are launching soon. Here is what makes us different, and why it matters on the streets you use every day.

1. Fair Fares: Pay for the trip, not the moment

Surge pricing is the reason so many Lagosians have two ride apps on their phone. One for normal days, one for emergencies. It is also the reason a 15-minute trip can cost as much as your lunch for the week.

We think that is broken.

With Post & Pick, we are committed to fare predictability. That means no surge multipliers that triple your cost because it started drizzling in Yaba. It means you see the price before you book, and that is what you pay. If traffic is bad, we absorb the stress, not your wallet.

How do we do it without going broke? Two ways.

First, we are starting with an EV-first fleet in key corridors. Electric vehicles cost less to run per kilometer than petrol cars, especially with the way fuel prices move. Lower running costs for drivers means we do not have to push those costs onto you. It also means cleaner air on routes like Lekki-Epe and Ikorodu Road, which matters when you are stuck in traffic.

Second, we use smarter matching. Instead of dragging you across town to pick up a driver who is 18 minutes away, our system prioritizes drivers who are already in your area, already heading in a similar direction. Less dead mileage, less wasted fuel, less waiting. You get a car faster, the driver spends more time earning, and the fare stays reasonable.

Fair fares are not a promo. They are the default. We want you to be able to budget for transport the same way you budget for data and groceries. No guesswork.

2. Safety First: Because peace of mind is not optional

Ask any woman who has taken a late ride from the island to the mainland. Ask any student coming back from a night class in Ojo. Ask any parent sending their child on an errand. The first question is never "how fast." It is "is it safe."

We took that seriously from day one.

Every driver on Post & Pick goes through full verification. Government ID, driver’s license, vehicle documents, and a background check. No shortcuts. If something does not check out, they do not get on the platform.

Once you are in the car, you are not invisible. Live trip tracking is on by default and can be shared with up to three contacts with one tap. Mum can watch your dot move from Maryland to Surulere. Your friend can see you made it to the office. 

We also built an SOS button that does exactly what you expect. Press it and your live location, driver details, and trip info go to our 24/7 safety team. We can also notify emergency contacts and, where needed, work with authorities. We test this monthly so it works when you need it, not just in a demo.

Inside the app, you will see trip details before you enter the car: driver name, photo, car model, plate number. And after the trip, both riders and drivers rate each other. Low-rated drivers get retraining or they are off the platform. This is a two-way street. Respect goes both ways.

We are also rolling out audio safety recording for trips, with consent from both parties. It is encrypted, and only accessed if a safety incident is reported. The point is not to watch you. The point is to have facts if something goes wrong, so we can act fast and fairly.

Lagos is a 24-hour city. Your ride should feel safe at 6am and at midnight.

3. Driver Focused: Better pay, better service

A platform is only as good as the people driving it. Literally.

Most drivers we spoke to in Ajah, Berger, and Oshodi said the same thing. "We want to work, but the commissions are eating us alive." When platforms take 25 to 30 percent, drivers have to do more trips, drive longer hours, and cut corners just to break even. That is not sustainable for them, and it is not good for you.

So we flipped the math.

On Post & Pick, drivers keep 95% of every fare. We take 5% to keep the lights on, improve the app, and run support. That is it.

What does that mean in real life? It means a driver can do fewer trips and still earn what they need. It means they are less rushed, less stressed, and more likely to help you with your bags or wait the extra minute when you are running downstairs. It means experienced drivers who left other platforms can come back and build something stable.

We also built for flexibility. Drive mornings only. Drive weekends only. Turn the app on when school fees are due, and off when you need a break. No forced targets, no penalties for logging off. We provide in-app support in English, Pidgin, and Yoruba, and we are adding Igbo next. Real people answer, not bots.

For drivers using our EV fleet, we are partnering with charging hubs in Ikeja, Lekki, and Alimosho. Discounted charging, maintenance support, and training on how to maximize battery life in Lagos traffic. The idea is simple: if drivers do well, riders do well.

This is not charity. It is good business. Happy drivers give better service. Better service brings more riders. More riders mean more trips for drivers. That is the loop we want.

Built for Lagos, by people who understand Lagos

We could have copied a template from another country and changed the logo. We did not.

Post & Pick understands danfo lanes, okada shortcuts, and the fact that "I am at the gate" can mean three different gates. Our maps account for one-ways in Victoria Island, market traffic in Mile 12, and the reality of rain flooding parts of Apapa.

Payment is also local. Card, transfer, and wallet options that work with banks you already use. No foreign currency confusion. Receipts go straight to your email for expense claims.

We are starting with cars, but the roadmap includes tricycles for short hops and scheduled rides for airport runs and intercity trips. The idea is to give you options without making you download five different apps.

Why now

Transport in Lagos is not a luxury. It is how you get to work, to school, to the hospital, to see family. When it is expensive and unreliable, everything else gets harder.

We are not promising magic. Traffic will still be traffic. Rain will still fall. But we can promise fairness on price, seriousness on safety, and respect for the drivers who move the city.

We are in final testing now. The first set of rides will roll out in phases, starting with Lagos Mainland and Island. We want to get it right before we scale, because trust is earned one trip at a time.
