How Much Can You Really Make Driving for an E- Ride Service? Our Honest Breakdown for the UK and Nigeria

If you drive for Uber, Bolt, or inDrive, you've heard the same promise: work when you want and make good money. And you can. We've seen drivers do it in both the UK and Nigeria. But your take-home is not what you see on the app. Once you remove commission, fuel, car costs, and tax, the number changes.

We want to give you the honest breakdown, because that's why we built Post and Pick.

If You Drive in the UK

In the UK it's a licensed job. You need your PCO Licence, DBS, medical, and private hire insurance. It takes months and money upfront.

What the app shows you: Outside London - Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds - gross is £15 to £22 per hour. That's £700 to £1,000 gross a week for 40-45 hours.

In London, it's £20 to £32 per hour. A full-time week is £1,100 to £1,600 gross.

But Bolt takes 20%, Uber takes 25% right off the top.

What you actually keep:

1.  Your car - renting a PCO car with insurance is £220 to £350 per week.
2.  Running costs - petrol £80-£120 a week or charging £25-£40 if you're electric, plus ULEZ, washes, maintenance.
3.  Tax - you're self-employed, so you have to set aside 20% for HMRC yourself.

A realistic week in London for someone who owns a hybrid outright:
Gross £1,300 - Commission (25%) £325 - Fuel £90 - Insurance/licensing £90 - Maintenance £50 - Tax £149
Take-home: About £596 for 45 hours.

If you rent, subtract another £280. That's why we see so many drivers working 60 hours just to clear £500.

If You Drive in Nigeria

In Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt - this is where we see the pain most.

What the app shows you: Part-time 15-20 hours is ₦80k - ₦150k gross a week. Full-time 10-12 hours a day, 6 days a week, is ₦250k - ₦450k gross in Lagos.

What you actually keep:
1.  Commission - Bolt 20-25%, Uber 25%
2.  Fuel - your number one killer. 200km a day is ₦18k to ₦30k daily. That's ₦100k to ₦180k a week.
3.  Maintenance - ₦25k to ₦40k weekly for our roads.
4.  Car owner money - ₦35k to ₦60k weekly if you don't own outright.

A realistic week in Lagos if you own your car:
Gross ₦350k - Commission (23%) ₦80,500 - Fuel ₦140k - Maintenance/wash ₦35k
Take-home: ₦94,500 per week.

If you're on hire purchase paying ₦50k weekly, you're down to ₦44,500. You can work all week and go home with nothing. We've spoken to too many drivers in that situation.

Why We Built Post and Pick - And Why You Should Choose Us

We built Post and Pick because we were tired of seeing drivers work hard and keep little. The maths doesn't work when an app takes 25%.

Here is what we do differently:

1. We only charge 13%.
We charge 13%, not 25%. In London on that £1,300 week, you pay us £169, not £325. You keep an extra £156 that week. That's over £600 a month back in your pocket.

In Lagos on that ₦350k week, you pay us ₦45,500, not ₦87,500. You save ₦42,000 every single week. That alone is fuel for two days.

2. Fairer Pricing - You Can Bid, Not Just Decline.
This is the feature we are most proud of. On other apps, if the price is too low, your only option is to decline. The rider waits, you stay idle, fuel burns.

On Post and Pick, if the price is too low, you can counter-offer. You bid a fair price. The rider sees it and can accept. No more endless declining. Less cancellation, more trips, more money per hour. It's fairer for you and for the rider.

3. Retirement Plan Earnings
At Post and Pick we care so much about your retirement that is why we built in a 5 year retirement plan for all our drivers. Ride for us for 5 years and Earn unlimitedly as long as the drivers you have invited during your active years continue to work. You can earn as much as £17,000 monthly from your full Binary commission and as much as N 20,000,000 monthly if you're in Nigeria

4. Real Safety.
Verified drivers, verified riders, trip sharing, SOS. We want good riders on our platform who respect your car and tip.

We're not here to tell you driving is easy money. It's a business. Your car is your shop.

But if you are going to do this business, you deserve a platform that lets you keep what you earn. That's Post and Pick.

If you are tired of watching 25% disappear, come and drive with us.
